The 507 Effect

In today’s world of Twitter, Digg, StumbleUpon, Facebook, Myspace, blogs, vlogs, Rss Feeds, Podcasts, Friendfeed, and too many others to mention here, do you ever wonder what the Hardware, Software, and social apps of our great great great grandchildren will be able to do? Already its possible to announce to the world your every thought live on a vlog. But more and more daily I see where Ray Kurzweil is going when he says that within 30 years people will be “streaming” their lives out to anyone willing to pay the money to experience it. Tell me what you think. Do you envision a world within 30 years (And that is FOREVER in terms of Moore’s Law) where humans will be able to experience each others “view points” at will? With consent of course. Even further along, can you imagine a social app of 60 years? Full body virtual immersion? Artificial Intelligent mental interaction? With more and more people posting more and more sensitive information about themselves online, and being haled for it as Techno Visionaries, I can very clearly see a situation where, given the right technology and interface, humans would be willing to pay to experience someone else’s reality. And I can see plenty of corporations that would be willing to sale that experience. Can you imagine how popular a Halo like game would be if it was “Full Body and Mind” So my questions to you are, how far are we away from being able to “stream” someone else’s consciousness? And how willing are you accept the premise that you are living in an extremely complex and advanced computer program and that your life is merely a “video game”?
